Current Grievances

  • Karriem A. – Article IV, IV 1, V, and XVI
    • All of these article’s touch on accrual of time for vacation, sick, and personal days.
    • The driver was denied accrued vacation time due to not meeting his anniversary before termination. The Union argued that the contract, though not definitively clear pertaining to this matter, that time served equated to some value before termination.
      • Result – the company and the Union signed an agreement to pay Voluntary Resignation and one week of accrued vacation time. We also agreed that this would not set a precedence for future similar situations. Each future situation would be considered a new matter with no past practice involved.

The union is open to suggestions to collecting membership input for this year’s contract negotiations.

  • Sealed drop boxes in each location
  • Website help forms
  • Multiple in-person meetings in both locations

For questions and concerns please contact your local union representative to seek a resolution to your concern immediately.

The Union and the company are seeking to meet in May to begin contract negotiations.

Additional Notes

  • Tyrik was in attendance and matter was discussed by Vice President and the Executive Board as well as those on Zoom for the meeting.
    • Article VIII- Elections
      • GWhere a position cannot be filled through the election process, the elected president shall appoint a member in good standing to that position.
      • The Union took a vote from second shift warehouse and Tyrik was their unanimous selection.
        • The president and vice president have agreed to a two-month probationary shop steward position for Tyrik. At the end of the two-month period of time an assessment will be made to keep or rescind the position based on meeting attendance and fulfillment of overall shop steward duties.

  • A memo may be needed to circulate to members each time winners are drawn so they know who won, where to collect the money, when to collect it, how it is tax free under $600 for the year, why they won, and the overall parameters of the Union created/company backed program.
