Financial Review

  • July’s dues payment was not made yet nor an account given by the company so the balance is not up to date until midweek next week.
    • Average check ranges between [Financial details available to members] and [Financial details available to members]

Grievances

  • Jersey City is in violation of properly bidding routes in a timely manner.
  • Jersey City terminated two warehouse employees and the Union feels there was not sufficient just cause for the firing.
    • First response from the company was a denial.
      • We re-submitted the grievance. The next step is arbitration.

Current Events and Talking Points

  • We are down to our last three meeting which are required by all members who wish to
    be nominated for union representative job to attend. By next month an election
    committee will be selected to handle all ballots.
  • This year all ballots will be mailed directly to all members with a return envelope and
    post marked for return.
    • All ballots will have a time to be submitted by to be counted.
    • The Election Committee will collect all ballots and will do all of the counting
      under supervision of the three Trustees
  • In the event that a nominated member who holds office currently and is running again
    but has no opposition, that member will not be on the ballot. They will retain their
    position for another three years.
  • Next week the company is sponsoring an ice cream day for the members.
  • More new trucks have been dispersed to both Florence and Jersey City locations.
  • School route drivers have already started to be recalled and all will be back by next
    week.
  • The Union Welfare Fund started taking applications as of 8/23/24. Applications were
    sent down to Florence and the application will soon be posted on the union website.
    • Selected union representatives will be reviewing the applications for approval
      not the President or the Treasurer.
  • The dues are scheduled to change from $8 per week to $10 per week as of 9/1/24.
    • A new authorization letter will be given to new members specifying the change
      in dues collection.
  • September 2nd all daily driver rates will increase by $10 and $1.25 per hour for all
    warehouse workers.

Next scheduled meeting is via Zoom on 9/22/24 from 8:00AM – 9:30AM
The final meeting in October will be in person and TBA
